El Cartel: The Big Boss is the follow up album to Daddy Yankee's hit album Barrio Fino, released on June 5, 2007. Daddy Stated that he took time to make this album because he loves to make music. He did not just throw some beats at the people. The first single from the album, titled "Impacto", along with its remix which features Black Eyed Peas star 'Fergie', were released on April 12, 2007 both tracks being produced by Scott Storch. Been on the charts for 23 weeks and still on the top 20. The second single is Ella Me Levanto, made the video in "República Domicana". Some of the other singles may be Bring It On and Who's Your Daddy. The Intro song "Jefe" is being considered as one of the best reggaeton intros to date. Guests on the album include Akon, Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls, Hector El Father, will.i.am and Fergie. The MTV 2 $2 bill concert is also on The Cartel in both audio & DVD so technically meaning the other featured artists on this album is Miri Ben-Ari, Busta Rhymes & Lloyd Banks.
The album debuted at number nine on the U.S. Billboard 200 and at number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart, selling 82,000 copies in its first week, making it the highest reggaeton album to sell in its first week,which, though still a good number, was less than half what was expected. As of October 6, 2007, the album has sold 406,350 copies in the United State. Shipped over 500,000 copies in Latin America. The album is one of only a few Latin albums to debut in the Billboard 200 Top Ten.
